Hard work versus passion ?

Ces, www.kulviolins.com

Searching the Internet I came across highly interesting weblog: "The lazy way to success". One part of this blog is (directly) connected with learning to play a violin:

Dear Jerry,
Don't be so hasty in closing the case before hearing a rebuttal. Of course, skill has value. But practice without passion is empty. You can practice the violin from now until the cows come home but you'd end up a mediocre violinist at best. That's becasue your performances would only be mechanical sequences of flawlessly executed notes. (Snore.)

But if you were passionate about the violin, you would never consider the practicing of it to be work. And your music would be an expression of that love, not to mention a joy to listen to.

There certainly can be there are different points of view at this problem, but I absolutely agree with the author.

We, being violin makers, all the time are thinking about creating well (ideally) sounding violin. To see, how difficult it is, you can read my article: "Ideal violin sound"

All the best, Ces

A community for the beginning violin student

Ces, www.kulviolins.com

I found this resource in a blog directory "Globe of blogs", http://globeofblogs.com/?x=topic&topic=237&page=2.

It is full description:

A community for the beginning violin student. While this community is geared towards adult beginners, everyone is welcome. And hopefully we'll get to hear about different styles of violin playing - classical, fiddle, jazz, and anything else! This is a forum for learning, support, encouragement, information, ideas, sharing experiences, etc. about anything violin-related. If you feel comfortable leaving and introduction, please do! Its always inspiring to hear others and their violin journeys. And hopefully non-beginning violin students will join, offer advice, and give beginners an idea of what to look forward to.

I know, how difficult it is to start playing violin, especially for adults. Therefore I am excited with this nice idea to support violin playing starters. Well done!
